Deaf Expo in Renens - great success for the second edition!

The 2nd Lausanne Deaf Expo took place on Saturday, May 19, 2018 in Renens (VD),

in the concert hall of the town of Renens. Compared to the first

edition, in 2016, the surface available for the exhibition doubled.

We had more than 300 visitors who came mainly from French-speaking Switzerland,

but also with a large number of Alemannics, who were able to

visit 30 stands with a wide variety of content: it was an opportunity to discover artistic passions, independent professional activities, household appliances,

body care or even associative activities.

The stands came from French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland, but also from France and Germany. Two stars from the deaf world were present: the Dutch

Onno Jansen (The Power of Sign Language) as well as the Spanish El Show Chavi,

who sold autographs and autographed t-shirts for their fans,

and of course posed for selfies. During the day, three different conferences

took place: Support for the Indian deaf by Sakeela Leuenberger (from Bern),

Technology for the deaf by Nicolas Mégias (Vaud), History of my life by

Onno Jansen. El Show Chavi invested a lot in a humorous show, also animated the interludes between the different shows, and presented the

different speakers on stage. A big thank you to all the volunteers for their investment which made this edition a great success.

A very big THANK YOU to our generous donors: Stiftung Bircher !!

The third edition will take place in 2020, somewhere in the canton of Vaud

in May.
